Why Consider this Indicator?*

Corn is by far the most produced crop in the United States, with roughly 84 million acres
harvested each year (2).  Michigan is the 11th largest producer of corn in the United States
(1).  Corn is an important part of the American diet, not just from eating it directly, but by
feeding it to livestock.
