Barry-Eaton District Health Department is your public health service
agency.  We protect and improve the health of Barry and Eaton Counties
through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and implementation of
effective policies and programs for individuals, families, businesses, and
communities.  Your health department conducts a wide variety of
services; from restaurant food safety inspections to the WIC nutrition

ELFCO is the Lansing area's only community-owned grocery. We carry a
large selection of local and organic produce, natural foods, health and
beauty products, bulk foods and seasonal gift and gardening products.
Everyone is welcome at ELFCO, where we're committed to healthy
people, a healthy environment and a healthy local economy.

The Food Bank Council of Michigan provides statewide leadership to food
banks in their efforts to alleviate hunger through the distribution of surplus
food to those in need.

The Garden Project of The Greater Lansing Food Bank is dedicated to
growing healthy food and cultivating connections. 2012 marks The
Garden Project's 30th growing season of helping facilitate home and
community gardening throughout the Lansing area. We help a network of
close to 90 community gardens with training, supplies, networking,
consultations, garden resources etc. The Garden Project provides
resources such as seeds, starts, tools, books, canning supplies, training
and a range of other services. The Garden Project facilitates access to
land for new community gardens and offers training to potential garden
leaders annually in late winter.

The Greater Lansing Food Bank is a non-profit organization that provides
emergency food to individuals and families in need in Ingham, Eaton, and
Clinton counties. Food is distributed through an extensive network of food
pantries and community kitchens located throughout the greater Lansing
area. This is accomplished through food rescue, garden support
programming and gleaning programs.

Healthy Communities programs fund local initiatives to address chronic
disease trends by changing environments and policies, allowing
everyone easy access to healthier lifestyles.

The Ingham County Land Bank Garden Program has land for farmers and
gardeners of all sizes.

Whether it’s helping grow Michigan’s agriculture economy, capturing
opportunities that use our natural resources in a sustainable way,
controlling health care costs by giving individuals the information they
need to manage chronic illness or preparing tomorrow’s leaders, MSU
Extension is creating opportunities and building communities that make
Michigan strong, prosperous and a great place to live.

MDARD provides resources regarding rules and regulations associated
with agriculture, the growing and selling of meat and produce and the
laws associated with licensing and processing. We can also assist with
technical support, networking, funding/funding information, and training
for regional food systems in Michigan.

MOFFA is a 501-c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting
environmentally sound and socially just organic food and farming
systems. Since 1992, MOFFA has been promoting public awareness for
the need of decentralized, secure, unadulterated, and humane methods
and programs to nutritionally feed all of us. MOFFA was one of the first
organizations in Michigan and the nation to actively promote these

Mission: To guide communities toward being more energy efficient and
sustainable through our expertise, our programs and our effect on
decision makers and residents of Michigan.

The NorthWest Initiative (NWI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
working to strengthen and sustain healthy communities in Lansing's
'grand neighborhoods' - the City area bounded by the Grand River on the
north, east, and south.  NWI programs include Outreach, A.R.R.O. (re-
entry program), a free VITA tax site,
 the Westside Farmers' Market,
Community Gardens, School Garden-Based Nutrition Education, Food
Resources and Nutrition Education & Food Samplings weekly at a variety
of community events.

Pearl Partners LLC works with multiple organizations including MDARD,
MIFFS, MIFMA, Four Seasons Produce Co-op, & MSU.  Working with these
groups and others allows me to learn AND SHARE what they are putting
their time and money into, what issues are at the forefront for each of
them, and who are the engaged individuals that may be able to work with
FSW folks. In addition, Pearl Partners offers services in strategic
facilitation, community outreach, and project teamwork.

AmeriCorps members and the volunteers they support empower local
families from low-opportunity neighborhoods to make positive lifestyle
changes and remove barriers to eating healthy and staying active.  The
Power of We Consortium’s AmeriCorps State program focuses on two
environmental project goals to reduce chronic disease for Lansing-area
residents: creating, expanding, maintaining trails/greenways, parks and
non-motorized transportation options; and creating, expanding,
maintaining community gardens, sustainable food systems, and access
to healthy foods.

Through its customized research, evaluation, and consulting services,
Public Policy Associates, Incorporated provides clients new and deeper
understanding to evaluate, change, or enhance programs and policies.  
We focus especially on Workforce Development, Criminal and Juvenile
Justice, Human Services, and Economic Revitalization.

South Lansing Community Development Association’s mission is to
create and sustain a strong, healthy, vibrant South Lansing community,
where citizens feel connected to each other, demonstrate ownership in
their community, share knowledge and resources, and work together
toward positive change. SLCDA coordinates the South Lansing Farmer’s
Market and South Lansing Urban Gardens, as well as programs that
foster community engagement.

The Food and Nutrition Services (FANS) department is comprised of the
hospital's retail food services, patient meal service and clinical nutrition
services. FANS is committed to good nutrition through fresh, wholesome
food. The FANS offices are the base for the diet office and room service
call center, food service administrative staff and clinical nutrition staff.

Starting Now (SN) is a consulting service designed to assist
organizations, firms, and agencies toward achieving  a deeper prosperity,
one that will benefit the organization, the community and the planet
simultaneously. Utilizing my 35 years of experience as a leader in higher
education, nonprofit organizations, and government, I will coach your
organization through a process aimed at achieving real sustainability. The
journey and the results will align the client organization more closely with
sustainable practices.

At WRF, we raise grass-fed Berkshire pork, meat chickens, ducks and
turkeys, as well as free-range eggs.
